No 2 heating oil specifications

All types of fuel are sourced from crude oil. The different types fall into one of two groups called residual or distillate. These terms are based on how the the products are made. No. 2 fuel oil is traditionally used in heating buildings and is chemically similar to diesel fuel. Although there are similarities, it is important to understand the differences between diesel fuel and No.2 oil DIESEL FUEL SPECIFICATIONS (ASTM D 975 SUMMARY) Low Sulfur No. 1-D Low Sulfur No. 2-D No. 1-DA No. 2-DA Flash Point, °F, minimum 100 125 100 125 Cloud Point, °F B B B B A Grades No. 1-D & 2-D are required to contain a sufficient amount of red dye to meet tax agency regulations. Fuel oil classes, including fuel oil No. 2 and diesel fuels, are refined from crude petroleum. They can be categorized as either a distillate fuel or a residual fuel, depending on their production method. Fuel oils Nos. 1, 2 and 4 are used for heating and are all very similar to diesel fuels.
